Part of the Tribeč mountain range is also a small hill of Veľký Lysec. Though, it is no kind of mohicane, it can boast of majestic rock crutches on the west side that will make you wonder and shivering. Located only 2 km from Kostoľany, Veľký Lysec is easily accessible and manageable.

Ascent to Veľký Lysec is popular with hikers, but also with lovers of good mountain biking on uneven terrain will certainly be satisfied as well. The ascent begins slowly, by easy climbing on a forest path. As the altitude increases, the climb gets more and more intense.

The rocky peak of Veľký Lysec itself offers beautiful panoramic views of Zobor, Žibrice, Gýmeš Castle, panorama of the Tribeč Mountains. Quartzite rocks are also a frequent destination of climbers, that is why you can see the chains and grips they use in training up on the rocks.

Under the rocks, there is an old wooden cottage, where you can also spend the night, relax or roast something delicious. It is interesting that on the slopes of the hill, there are the remains of a settlement of Celtic origin. If you have enough energy and desire to explore other corners of the Tribeč mountain, then from Sedlo pod Lyscom (Saddle below Lysec), it is possible to continue to the peak of Ploská (and further on the steep slope of the highest point of the Tribeč mountain, to Veľký Tribeč.

Veľký Lysec Hill is one of the stops of the Kostoliansky Educational Trail, which begins in the village of Kostoľany pod Tribečom. You can also get there on the yellow-marked hiking trails from Kostoľany (about 2 km) and from Velčice (about 4 km).
