The Orava Village Museum is probably the most famous Slovak open-air museum. It lies in the bosom of a beautiful Orava nature surrounded by the peaks of Roháče. You can find it only 3 kilometers behind the village of Zuberec.

The Orava Village Museum is a true example of *how the life used to be in a typical Orava village. *Its task is to bring visitors to the objects of folk architecture and their facilities.

It also seeks to point out the internal layout of settlements and their external environment - fields, meadows, pastures that have been related to livelihoods.

Log houses located on the site were purchased from the original owners, dismantled and stacked in a museum. Other houses were built as copies of original buildings.

The museum was opened to the public for the first time in 1975 and has attracted many tourists from Slovakia and abroad every year. Location and folk architecture will enchant even the smallest visitors.

The tour also includes a rich ethnographic exhibition in virtually every chalet interior. Many visitors will certainly appreciate the functional pub "U Mlynára" (Miller's Pub), where you can refresh and have a sit for a while. It is also possible to buy souvenirs or typical painted pottery from Trstená.

The Orava Village Museum is open all year round. The next events and the exact opening hours can be checked on the museum website.
